Bloom Back Better

restore Steve's Place Garden

In late April the newly installed landscaping on the grounds of ALFA's Prevention Office, Steve's Place, was vandalized. To say this was heart breaking and a blow to staff and clients is an understatement. We've had to step away for a bit while we recovered emotionally from seeing our good intentions and hard work destroyed, but we are now ready to get to work!

We are reaching out to ask for help to restore the healing space we created.

ALFA staff cleaned up the mess, but we lack resources to rebuild the garden, as this was a significant investment for the agency in manpower, funds and heart.

While we've have been devastated by the turn of events, we see this as an opportunity for the community to come together and support ALFA clients, staff, and everyone else who has been touched by the project or who values beautiful public spaces.

Girl Scout Troop 13259 and Unifour Church have graciously volunteered to help us rebuild. On July 20, they will be hosting a work party at Steve's Place from 5 - 7pm. We are asking for your help to bloom back the beautiful retreat that we had created. Volunteers are needed for the work day, as well as replacement plants, seeds, and other materials.

We would be thrilled with any donation, especially for hardy, low maintenance flowering perennials - purchased or divisions from your own garden.

Donations of plants, seeds and materials can be dropped off at Steve's Place starting on July 8, Monday through Friday, between 9 - 4. You can sign up to volunteer or drop off plants: here.
